Blog for Tuesday 19th March 2025

I was up early, I fed Shamara, made myself a coffee and then I went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time, do my Bible Study (finished the Book of Lamentations this morning) and I chose a verse not a proverb this morning for today.

I was not excited about my day as I had an appointment with my dentist to sort out the front tooth I broke in my  bottom jaw. I really hoped he could fix it, but knowing my teeth I did not hold my breath as I waited to hear the verdict.

I drove us into the industrial area in Port Macquarie as Ken had to buy some ball bearing part - some what's-it-a-my-call-it. I drove around until we finally found the shop and Ken was able to purchase what he needed.

Then it was off to the dentist with me shivering and shaking!

It was as I thought it could or would be – the remains of that tooth had to be pulled out.   Ainah! Honestly, I could have cried – well I did actually sniffle and snort a bit when I got back into the car and told Ken. As if that was not bad enough the other teeth are not looking that crash hot either. Wonderful! More time to be spent in the dentist chair. I should have an honorary award of something for the hours and hours I have spent with my mouth open at the mercy of those wretched drills and things they use to keep one’s teeth in good health!

From there, me with my mouth still numb and feeling horribly awkward and dribbling blood all over my top, we headed to Bunnings where Ken bought me some icy cold water. Then he disappeared inside Bunnings to spend ages trying to get the things he needed.

Bunnings eventually spat  my  man out loaded  with a cistern for our toilet – oh joy! Imagine we are going to be able to flush the toilet without carting buckets of water each time! Absolute magic.

Ken also bought the bolts needed   to screw the one leg onto the large pine wood table we use for playing games on et cetera.

I drove back home from Wauchope as I did not want to talk because my mouth was beginning to feel a little sore as the numbness wore off, and Ken had  bought himself a hot coffee (something I was not to have yet,) plus he likes to scroll on his i-phone as I drive. So, we were both happy.

Ah! It was so good to get back to the tractor as that meant we were almost home.  Ken unloaded the things he had bought at Bunnings, but somehow in transferring the things to the tractor bucket he dropped the special bolts or rather the flanges that go onto those bolts into the very long grass. We were both rear ends up scratching through the grass, but to no avail. So, then Ken seeing he had the slasher on the back of the tractor, went over the area several  times, cutting the grass shorter and shorter, but … nope, nary a flange to be seen anywhere. He will have to buy some more.

Once home both Ken and I crashed onto our bed and I managed to sleep for over half an hour, which was what I needed badly.

Thankfully, I still have leftovers – more than enough for us - from that food I made for our guests last night, so I did not have to prepare another meal for us. Wonderful!

I am teaching at school tomorrow (yes, minus one tooth) and I am looking forward to being with the children again – minus a tooth or not! Any pride that I may have had has been well trampled into the muddy ground!

I went over my lessons again to be ready for tomorrow’s classes.

What lesson did I learn today? Not to expect certain results - then I am not shattered when they do not eventuate.

What am I grateful for today? A kind and gentle dentist.

My saying for today is …
