I very slowly rolled out of bed at just before six o’clock- after a very late night, last night my body threatened to murder me if I got up at four this morning!
A few of us were up by seven o’clock and that was when Robert, Mich and I decided that we needed to leave the farm shortly – the three of us – to get into Port Macquarie to do a little shopping. That meant we had to leave the farm by about nine o’clock, and the rest of the crowd could leave the farm at about eleven, and we would all meet at the Wauchope Country Club for lunch. Tamryn did not want to come as she was going to be busy organizing her New Years Eve event taking place here in a few days, and Paulina had to remain on the farm due to her having to work online.
So after a hurried shower and dressing the three of us – Robert, Mich’ and I left the farm in Robert’s ute’ with him driving. Aah! The luxury of air conditioning in a vehicle!
In Port Macquarie Robert dropped Mich’ and I at Kmart and he headed off to the industrial area for a particular shop. Mich’ and I whipped around to get the things we needed and then we waited for Robert in a little restaurant sipping icy cold cool drinks.
We all met at the Country Club and had a lovely lunch together – Ken, Robert, Mich’, Josh’, Ethan and me and between us we managed to devour a fair amount of food too!
Josh’ ordered a take-away for Paulin and Tamryn said she was not hungry.
Shame, poor Tamryn, while we were away she went out to the back of the farm (to Paddy’s fishing spot) on the tractor to slash the area where the New Year’s Eve tent town is to be set up, but she got stuck in the river. She face-timed Paddy (her Dad - our son) and he tried to talk her out of her predicament. She eventually had to drive further into the river in order to get ‘unstuck.’ What a scary thing to have to do on your own.
So, Tamryn was not feeling that cheerful as she had not managed to make any progress in her attempt to set the tent town up with fairy lights and so on. But … there is always tomorrow or the next day when we will all be here and can help her.
Now tomorrow some of us are going into Wauchope – again to the Wauchope Country Club - but this time to play golf for Josh’s special birthday celebration – he is turning thirty! Robert, Josh’, Paulina and Ethan will be playing golf and Mich’ and I will be following them in a golf cart to take photos and video them. Ken and Tamryn are remaining on the farm – Ken to rest and Tamryn to do what she had wanted to do yesterday before being stuck in the river for over an hour.
Today, after our sumptuous lunch in town, we all had a lie down – I only lasted on the bed for under twenty minutes after which I managed to tidy the kitchen, sweep and mop the floors while everyone was still comatose!
Josh’, Paulina, Ethan and Tamryn went for a swim, Robert went off to find firewood, Ken slept on a bit, and Mich’ and I did more of the puzzle – we are almost done with it now. We set it up on the coffee table so whoever finds a moment adds a few pieces to it, and now it is almost complete.
Robert kindly made a fire outside for us all to sit around and chat as the day slowly leaked away.
I put out wraps for our supper – lots of different cold meats, salads, mayonnaises, cheese slices and so on and everyone had to help themselves – which they did.
We then came inside and sat around the table and played the Secret Santa game – Ken ended up with the beautiful coir front door mat for our home and I got a large thermos drinking mug. There were so many really beautiful and lovely gifts, and we all went away smiling with our gifts tucked under our arms.
I folded my body into bed and was asleep before I had even pulled the duvet up to cover me!
I left the murder game to be solved with Robert, Mich’ Josh’, Paulina and Ethan to work out if they felt so inclined – Tamryn was already in bed and listening to her audio book, and Ken was in the process of coming to bed too.
It had been another wonderful day with our family.
What lesson did I learn today? Just to enjoy every moment of the day.
What am I grateful for today? Time spent with family.
My saying for today is …
