I am delighted to inform you that our church’s AC Unit (belongs to the Senior Citizens Hall) has been replaced with a brand new one – and it was not stolen either!
Ah-ha! When I woke up this morning in the early hours, there was … silence! No rain … no drizzling … but thick fog for a while. Marvellous, that means the ground can start to dry out again and the river go down, although this morning I could still hear it roaring in the dark, so it is obviously still very high.
Patience is needed and the river teaches me that.
I had my Quiet Time and did my Bible study for today too. then I caught up with some of the Bible studies that I had not quite completed. At the moment I am working through the Book of Ezekiel which is not a book one can fly through at speed, and that is why I am or was a bit behind. But thankfully today I caught up with everything. Yahee!
I am sad that Ken and I were not able to attend church this morning. We, the Church Board decided to celebrate – well, to have a surprise celebration for the ten years that Tony (our pastor) and his wife Julie have given to our church. Some people gave a short speech about what they Tony and Julie meant to them, Matt’ and Danyelle who are in Zambia sent a video of thanks - with the Victoria Falls in the background, and I sent a text to be read out to them from Ken and I, seeing we were not able to be there. Then there was a special tea held in honor of them both. I sent in caramel slices (gluten free) and some triple chocolate gluten free biscuits, as Tony is gluten intolerant.
I also had to fill in forms after forms for our South African insurance and blocked banking account and blah-blah fish paste. Honestly, I have done that stuff over and over but still nothing gets done over there!
That task used up all the patience I have accumulated over the years and in seconds it disappeared and there was smoke coming out my nostrils!
When Ken got up, I got him to help me to move the two Lazy Boy leather armchairs so that I had more room to work in the shed.
Then I attempted to connect the TV that Ange and Ryan sent up to us, but … shoo, not being that way inclined the tiny trickle of patience that remained after filling in those forms, evaporated at an alarming speed!
Okay that was enough patience expenditure for one day!
I went up to my studio and listened to Tony’s sermon for this morning and then some talks on YouTube while I did a few more stitches on my baby shawl.
Tomorrow, I think I must begin to pack all the tools and things that need to go down to the bottom shed and get Ken motivated to get rid of the rubbish too.
I had a late shower today after moving stuff around in the shed as it was really muggy and hot and I worked up a serious sweat, which I knew I would. Hence the decision to shower after all that activity.
Tonight, we will have more of that curried cauliflower soup served with toast – it sounds most unappetizing, but it really is delicious. I have some waffle cones so we could have ice cream in cones after our meal.
What lesson did I learn today? That I have developed a severe allergy to filling in forms!
What am I grateful for today? The sunshine to dry up all the rain.
My saying for today is …
