Blog for Saturday 29th March 2025

I woke up to the sound of the rain shushing non-stop on our tin roof. It was a dark, damp and soggy early morning on the farm. The rain fell lightly but it did not stop, just a steady trickle – splish-splash-splish-splash on and on  it went just above a whisper.

I had my Quiet Time and did my Bible Study before I uploaded  my blog onto the farm  website then read, answered or deleted my emails.

The rain did not stop once!

Eventually at about nine this morning I braved the sogginess and I went outside draped in a large raincoat to check the rain gauge, and also to re-start the water pump that had inconveniently turned itself off.

We had had 43mm of rain overnight so no wonder it felt soggy! The river was up and roaring.

I got myself dressed for the day and decided to have a day up in my studio because I thought Ken would not be in a hurry to tackle the shed area, and I needed a break from the tidying anyway.

Instead,  I went through the papers on my desk and read, filed, answered, paid or destroyed them. Tick. One  job done!

Next, I planned and went through my next SRE lessons.

Then I began my Bible Study on the next Bible Book we will be studying in our Bible Study Group, which will be the Letter to Titus.  As it has three chapters we will only study one chapter per week as that gives us plenty of time to dig deep.

Oh yes! I listened to the last six minutes of my audio book and then scrolled through my library to see if I had any unread book that I wanted to listen to. Nope. But on Monday I can order my next one. I get one audio book a month.

I flicked through my recipes and I think I may make a chicken dish – a chicken noodle dish, or curried cauliflower soup (a top favorite of mine!) followed by peaches and custard. Ken said he would like the curried cauliflower soup, so that will be it then.

I was going to enter all the receipts for the farm for March, but I only found a few – there must be more in the ute’ but it was pouring with rain, so that idea was soon forgotten! I may do that tomorrow ... maybe?

Oh my herb! At a quarter to four the heavens opened, and the rain blasted down! As if we had not had enough today already! It pelted down at a forty-five degree angle and was like a heavy curtain of water pelting down, stabbing at the earth with intent. Thankfully it was only for a short time.

I decided it was time for a mug  of steaming hot coffee, and time to listen to my audio book - if I could find one I had not read and do a little crocheting again. It is after all the weekend!

What lesson did I learn today? Just to enjoy being dry, warm and indoors today.

What am I grateful for today? That we have a home to be warm and dry in, and family to fill it.

My saying for today is …
