Blog for Saturday 15th March 2025

I was up bright and early this morning - well early, I am not that sure about ’bright’!

I found some chicken and beef bites in the deep freeze (for dogs), but Shamara is making quick work of them. They disappear down her gullet without any questioning! She is loving them, so that has sorted out any fear I had of running out of food for her.

The river is way down but still too deep and running too hard and fast for us to cross yet. I think maybe Monday we will be able to get off the farm and make haste to town and to see if I can get to see my dentist post haste!

This morning I began with my Quiet Time as usual and then I put on loads and loads of washing as I washed the bedlinen and clothes today - to take advantage of this brilliant and really hot sunshine that dries everything at record speeds.

My aim for today is to sort out our bedroom which seems to have become the ‘dumping ground’ for all things no one wants to put away! I also have a picnic basket that sits between two cupboards in our bedroom, which I inherited from my Mum, so I went through that to give away the things I no longer seem to use. I will donate them to one of the second-hand shops for charity.

Next I attacked the two linen cupboards as I would love to use the one cupboard for my clothes, and I can put the bedlinen and tableware into containers and onto the shelves in the main shed area rather. It will make a huge difference to our bedroom space. I will attempt to begin that, but will need more containers I think before completing that plan.

Yoh! halfway through that exercise I began to think ‘what a stupid idea Gail Morgan’. I was sweating like a pig, tired, and there were not enough containers which means that I have bedlinen everywhere but in a container at the moment! Ah well! It is a beginning, and I am sorting and de-cluttering as I go which rewards me with so many positive results.

Tired or not, sweaty or not, I will continue until I have finished going through everything in our home!

At just before three o’clock I took a break - I sat outside in the shade and as there was a nice breeze blowing, I could recuperate from my sweatiness and tiredness. I allowed myself to listen to my audio book for half an hour while sipping on an icy cold cordial drink before pressing onward and upward with my de-cluttering!

Then it was back to sorting and tidying for me.

Later, when the sun was sliding down as if the sky was melting I went an sat outside again to watch the end of today. What a beautiful time of day as there is a stillness just before the darkness of the arriving night begins to seep across the sky, as if nature is taking a deep breath before sleeping.

What lesson did I learn today? More determination.

What am I grateful for today? All the sunshine that has dried up all the rain and allowed the river to go down even further.

My saying for today is …
