Blog for Monday 14th April 2025

I had a good night’s sleep last night and woke up just before four o’clock this morning.

Raafie and I stayed in bed where I had my Quiet Time and did my Bible study there too, much to Raafie’s delight.

But when I got up Raafie heard a mouse in my old kitchen cupboard, and he went into destroy mode – check the mess I now have to clean up! Plus, the mouse is still in the house or rather cupboard somewhere! Wonderful! (Not!)

Seriously Raafie I really did not need this mess!

And yes! That is the base of the cupboard ripped up!
And yes! That is the base of the cupboard ripped up!

I chat to Ken off and on throughout the days to check on him, and he is still very happy in hospital and although sore is doing well using a walker to get about. These things take time.

I am not feeling as nauseous as I was yesterday thankfully. Yoh! That was horrible. I have obviously picked up some tummy bug when in town the other day which I hope it will soon be over.

I went out early this morning to feed the birds – that is, the chooks and guinea fowl and all the wild birds that have discovered that they can pull into the Morgan’s place for extra seed!

We had 4.5mm of rain overnight but unfortunately every little drop runs into the river as the ground is so wet. I really need the river to go down not up, so I can bring Ken home soon!

I feed the dogs in the evening for Ken now too and the dogs are thoroughly enjoying the extra titbits I add to their bowls.

Today, as I am still not feeling up to scratch I will just tiptoe through the day, read my book maybe, tidy the mess Raafie has created for me, do the washing and try to take things at a slower pace than normal.

I have told Paddy too not to rush up to be here with me as I am fine on my own, have enough food for the animals and mwah, so there really is no need to get here chop-chop as Ken has to stay in hospital anyway. Plus, Paddy has so much on his plate at the moment.

Paddy has said that he and Matt’ will come up to the farm this Thursday and stay for a few days. Then hopefully we may be able to bring Ken home after that or Ken may still have to stay in hospital a little longer. This all depends on what the river does!

Today I have pretty much done nothing but drip around the shed. I cleaned up the mess Raafie had created – bless his four paws – read my book, done three loads of washing, done more Bible studies, made phone calls, answered texts, played Patience on my laptop and I even had a sleep this afternoon for half an hour. What a lazy lump I am!

What lesson did I l earn today? Sometimes, no matter what, one has to listen to what one’s body is demanding.

What am I grateful for today? That I have had a go-slow sort of day.

My saying for today is …
