Blog for Friday 14th March 2025

A new day arrived in the early hours of today, wrapped in overcast skies of the softest of greys.

I fed Shamara who is now having a diet of cold roast chicken as I have run out of her cat food - she really is such a guts! She has wolfed down packet after packet at speeds I had not anticipated - hence the running out of her food. With the next flood I shall order in a truckload of cat food for her, as I was so sure that I had got more than enough food for her this time!

Wrong!

I went up to my studio - which is looking ever so tidy and neat - to have my Quiet Time et cetera.

Last night, (I meant to mention that in my yesterday’s blog, but did not) - we had our Zoom Church Board Meeting. Ian is doing a really good job stepping into Matt’s position (while Matt’ and his family are away overseas for a year) as our church secretary and Ian has run two really good and well presented meetings for us so far. Not easy to step into someone’s else’s shoes who was doing an excellent job before leaving.

This morning after my shower I did half of the ironing, leaving the rest to do in the late afternoon when I am busy cooking supper. Well, when I cooked the spaghetti.

I continued, with great determination to finish sorting, filing, or chucking out papers. I am slowly beginning to see things fall into place, but I still have a long, long way to go before it is finished. That is where the determination comes in!

I then went through the little camphor kist my Mum and Dad gave me when I was a little girl, and which houses bits and pieces - elastics - zips in every color - laces - small balls of crochet cottons in various hues - little things I embroidered as a pre-school kid which are not that beautiful but they were made with incredible love, and I so remember giving them to my Mum with great pride, and now Mum gave them back to me a while before she died.

Again, another container sorted out - done and dusted! I am thinking of maybe putting my great grand baby layettes in there for safe keeping. I will see.

Nah! I think I will put some of my embroideries and UFO’s in there as they will be easier to get to rather than in containers and on the shelves.

Well, this morning when I was rummaging through the deep freeze, I came upon a container of cooked mince that I had made - ah-ha! So, we will have some spaghetti bolognaise tonight for supper then! Easy-peasy.

Today has been another day painted with layers and layers of sunshine, and it got pretty warm too. Hopefully that means the river will come down quickly.

Ken and I went down to see what the river was doing. It has come down an incredible amount but it is still too deep and flowing far too fast for us to cross yet. This flood ahs also gouged out sections of our river crossing and we have n o idea how deep those gouges are yet. We may be able to get out on Monday?

What lesson did I learn today? To hang in when I feel like giving up.

What am I grateful for today? All the sunshine.

My saying for today is …
