Mich’ and I were up fairly early - well, I was up at my usual time, and Mich’ was able to sleep in a bit - something she does not often get a chance to do at home.
I had my Quiet Time and then spoke to Ken on the phone and he had had terrible night when nurses in and out of his room taking blood pressure and checking this and that, but he was feeling good no pain, and enjoying his first early morning coffee in bed!
Bless Peter, he arrived here at the top shed at eight o’clock on the dot and transferred us over the river and to Mich’ car.
From here Mich' and I headed straight to the hospital to see Ken.
He was looking perky and happy with life and another friend of ours – Frank – was there visiting him too. We did not stay long as I had two dental appointments, so we left Ken promising him that we would call in again later.
I got Mich’ to drop me off at the dentist’s early as I thought there could be a cancellation and I wanted to get this over and done with – some teeth extracted. Not my fun happening in life, but … it had to be done.
As I walked into the dentist’s the receptionist had just sent me a text saying that there had just been a cancellation so I could go straight in!
Shoo! The rest of my time in there was NOT fun, but it is over and done with now and my mouth will soon recover.
From the dentist’s we went to Chemist Warehouse and Mich’ bought me some lovely face cream as another spoiling! Then we returned to the hospital to spend more time with Ken.
Apparently, the physio’ was unable to do anything with Ken this morning as his leg was still too numb from anaesthetic for her to do anything with him exercise wise. He will have to wait for that feeling to return first. The medical staff told Ken not to worry as this can happen, so … we wait for his feeling to return.
We said our fond “Farewell’s!” to Ken and headed back into Wauchope and Richies to pick up some fresh foods before heading home.
When we got to the river Peter was already there, he had arrived early and had greased the tractor for us, as this crossing the river as often as we have had to do is not good for the tractor as the river is still deep and the water gets into everything.
Once home, Mich and I continued sorting out the colors of our puzzle – well I did that as Mich’ was trying to connect the TV that Ange and Ryan had given us. But so far no luck. She will try again tomorrow.
By the time we got back home my mouth was in absolute agony – yikes! It was sore! I found some pain tablets and swallowed them quick smart and then both Mich and I lay down for an hour to rest.
The rest of the day was taken up answering or making phone calls or texts letting everyone know how Ken was.
Yesterday I made my curried cauliflower soup and Mich’ and I had that for our supper tonight - perfect for my very sore mouth.
Both Mich’ and I were tucked up in our respective beds by eight o’clock and I was soon sound asleep.
What lesson did I learn today? Everything – both the good and bad in life will pass.
What am I grateful for today? That Ken’s op is done and my teeth extractions done too..
My saying for today is …
